Everyone must make up their own mind as to how much he should give. Do not force anyone to give more than he really wants to, for God loves the cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7)

As Christians, we believe that all we are, and all that we have, has been given to us by God. Our response to God is one of profound gratitude, and flowing from it, generosity. That perspective directs us to understand that the question is not, "What does the parish need to receive?" but rather, "What do I need to give?". Instead of responding to a call based on the premise of scarcity, we are moved by the premise of abundance. Seen in this light, stewardship is a spiritual issue not merely a financial one. It has as much to do with faith, as with time, talent, and treasure.

While stewardship is clearly a biblical concept, frequently it is misused and misunderstood to be seen as merely a way of fundraising. The definition of a stewards is "a person who manages and administrates what has been entrusted to him by another." Stewardship has many references in the New Testament. Jesus speaks of the "good steward," the one who cares for the household when the master is away. God entrusts each of us with the gifts He has given us and we are called to use these gifts in His best interest.

As good stewards, we recognize and respond to God's gifts and blessings with a faith-filled and spirit-led offering back to God for what he has given to us. God does not keep score; he does not give some of what you need; he gives all that you need. Our parish is blessed to offer a variety of ministries, each dedicated to serve various needs within our parish and community.
